Welcome to Pretty Decent Stuff!
I’m Jessie and welcome to my blog. Let me start by talking a little about myself and my family. I’m happily married to my best friend Craig. He’s my cohort here and little did he know until just about yesterday, my “sous chef” in all of this… or maybe I’m mostly his “sous chef.” We enjoy being in the kitchen together learning and trying new recipes. We have a beautiful daughter who is 3.5 years old, she also has fun with us in the kitchen. Although she still prefers Mac & Cheese above all.
I’ve started this blog to talk, because let’s face it, if you know me, you know I love to talk! I especially love to talk about food. The problem about me talking about food, is that until recently I’ve not been very into cooking because I didn’t feel very comfortable with it. There have been a few times I’ve made dinner for the family, that I’m sure my husband has been ready to throw out, but won’t admit it. Just ask him about my first slow cooker Mac & cheese I made. Now that my husband has been down, due to a recent surgery it’s forced me into cooking all the meals lately.
So with this blog I want to reach out to family’s that want new healthier recipes that are not just completely vegetables. We are not Paleo, gluten free, keto, or anything like that. We just like to make simple substitutions to food to make it healthier, without losing it’s delicious flavor. Just imagine, biscuits & gravy on a Sunday morning that is delicious and healthier than the normal, heavy biscuits and gravy. I want to share meals with easy, healthier changes, that are just DARN good. Trust me, I used to be the girl who ate chicken nuggets and ice cream like it was going out of style. I’ve learned to find new foods and be healthier.
My disclaimer to all of this is, I’m not certified in nutrition, have no medical background. If you’re seeking any sort of professional meals or meal plans, that is not here. I’m just here to share my love of food and how I try to make it healthy. This may not be the way you like things or do things, but I’m here to share my tips.
Last but not least, I’m not in this business to share a “blogger perfect” life, I’m still a full time working, mother & wife. I want you to join this journey of pretty decently healthy food, fun, and laughter (even if my jokes are corny.)
